Infants Babble More When Parents ‘Baby Talk’

New research shows that when parents speak to infants using exaggerated vowels and higher pitches, babies babble more and learn words more quickly. The research also suggests that it’s not the amount of time spent using ‘baby talk’ but the social context (one-on-one appears to be the best) and the style of speech that makes the most difference.
